A coffee cleaning brush is what keeps stale grounds out of your coffee. Old grounds trapped in grinder burrs and around the group head turn rancid within days, and those oils taste bitter in an otherwise good cup. This brush is 18 cm long with a 3.8 cm head, made from sustainable birch.

Why it matters

  • Reaches into burrs: The 3.8 cm head is narrow enough to get between grinder burrs and into the grounds chute, where a cloth cannot go.
  • Cleans the group head: Sweeps spent grounds off the shower screen and out of the group gasket.
  • 18 cm handle: Long enough to keep your fingers clear of a hot group head.
  • Firm but non-marking: Bristles stiff enough to shift caked coffee without scratching steel or coated surfaces.
  • Sustainable birch: Solid birch wood with a comfortable grip and a natural finish.
  • Used dry: No water anywhere near your grinder burrs, which is exactly how it should be.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I clean my coffee grinder?

Brush out loose grounds every few days and do a full burr clean every two to four weeks if you brew daily. Coffee oils build up on burrs and go rancid, putting a stale, bitter edge on every cup.

Can I use water to clean grinder burrs?

No. Steel burrs rust, and moisture makes coffee residue cake harder. Clean burrs dry with a brush, and use grinder cleaning tablets if you need a deeper clean.

What brush should I use on an espresso group head?

One with firm bristles and a handle long enough to keep your fingers away from the hot group, which is what the 18 cm length is for. Brush the shower screen and gasket after your last shot, while the machine is warm but not scalding.

Can one brush handle the grinder and the espresso machine?

It can, but two is better. Grinder residue is dry and oily while group head residue is wet, and moving a damp brush into a grinder is exactly what you want to avoid. If you keep only one, use it dry on the grinder first and the machine second.

How do I clean the brush itself?

Tap it out after each use. When the bristles get oily, wash the head only in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry it bristles-down so water does not run into the wooden handle.
